Day 1 - Thursday, September 5, 2013

Here we go again.  It looks like we should have quite a crew down in Hood River again this year.
Harold A, says his confirmed list includes...  Harold A., Jim Soneff,  Blaine,  Brad,  Kent,  Rene,  Ross & Karen, Ted, Mike, Allan, Handre, Lazelle, and Eddy. Ross and Karen now own a property in Hood River, in addition to the three condo's we have rented.  Should be lots of fun!
Thursday was the first day of the trip for me - but I know Ross and Karen have been in the Gorge all week, and several people left before me.

I went to work this morning, and then watched and took some photos of the Tour of Alberta race as they crossed the "Sprint Line" in downtown Wetaskiwin.  Very exciting, but the riders were all in a single pack so it took only 40 seconds between the first and last rider (although it was 45 minutes between the first RCMP vehicle which closed the road, and the last support vehicle.).

My friend and co-worker Bob Bishop - stopping traffic for the Tour

Wow - do those guy's move.  They had a slight tail wind, and I suspect were pushing for the sprint line.  (Our City had put up a $1000 prize).

The guy on the left had just been first to cross the sprint line.
I left town shortly after the race and drove to Cranbrook.  Nice easy drive and about half way...
Looking forward to getting on or in the water tomorrow.

Ted

Very tight pack...
