Day 3 - Saturday, September 7, 2013

Biking/Golf Day

The day started slowly with the usual coffee at Dog River Coffee Company.  The Forecast wasn't very good, so no one was in a rush.  We eventually headed over to Bette's for breakfast.

What to do???  Biking, Golf, SUP, many many choices, and also many different opinions.  After touring the bike shops, (and a few windsurf shops), we split into three groups.

Mountain Biking

Kent, Ross, Eddy, Harold, and Handre went Mountain Biking.  They did three trails.  Eight Mile Loop, Oak Ridge, Kneble Springs  and Surveyors Ridge.  Handre says it is funny how those trees and rocks jump out at you on the descents when you are trying to keep up with Kent and Ross.  Eddy says he has a new bruise on his ankle - but doesn't know how he got it.
Kent describing how big the rocks were they had to jump!!

They were out all day, and were the last of the group to get back to the Condo's....Sometime around 6:30pm.  There was some confusion on the pickup - as Harold couldn't find the team, so the ride back was very cramped.  Kent and Handre became very close in the back seat.

Back seat buddies!  Kent and Handre

Golfing

Al, Big Air Jim, and Rene went golfing at the  Hood River Golf Course.  Jim says he shot a 94.

Big Air Jim has Nicknamed Al "Asterisk Al" because more often than not his score had an asterisk beside it.....

Al borrowed Brad's Golf Clubs.  He was very thankful that there was a "Tree Wedge" included in the set to help him with a few of his shots.....

Lucky Brads clubs included a Tree Wedge.

Road Biking

Mike, Brad, Blaine, Lazelle and Ted decided to ride the Mount Adams Loop.  It starts at BZ Corner, goes "straight up" for the first 20km, then there is a beautiful ride along a a high plateau (with a few more surprise hills), then a long downhill run back to BZ Corner.

Blaine - ready to go!

Mike
Ted took the easy way and drove past the big hill!
I did it the easy way and drove the first 20km, left his van on the side of the road,  and then biked the remainder of the loop.  It is a beautiful ride.  The whole ride was 75km (51 for Ted).  Of course, I finished first (having missed the long grueling climb to the top), so I arrived at the bottom about an hour ahead of the others.  It was a beautiful day, so I had an ice cream while I was waiting.   Blaine and Brad drove me back up to my van after the ride.

6th Street

Gerry and Julie arrived at the Condo's in the evening.  I think we are all here now.  After a "few beers" at the Condo, we all headed to 6th Street for supper.  Overall - a very good day!
